Allianz V2AI Case Study

Key Facts

  • V2 AI delivered a production-ready, assured, and observable agentic AI capability for scalable adviser education to Allianz Retire+, a leading Australian retirement income provider backed by the global Allianz group.

  • The solution, Ada (Adviser Digital Assistant), supports advisers in providing tailored product information by interacting with existing Retire+ tools and systems to perform income calculations and rate look-ups, and provide product features.

  • Built with Anthropic Claude models on Amazon Bedrock, Ada boosts adviser confidence and sales velocity by scaling and augmenting SME and BDM capabilities, providing instant responses to complex product queries.

  • Ada also standardises knowledge delivery across geographically distributed adviser networks, boosting customer trust and brand reputation.

  • V2 ensured both solution quality and compliance through close collaboration with cross-functional teams across compliance, legal, risk, product, and executive leadership before launch.

  • As the AI continues to learn from usage insights and trend analysis, Allianz Retire+ can proactively identify education gaps and refine product communication strategies, improving long-term adviser engagement and retention.

We recognised that for advisers to effectively solve for their clients' retirement needs, they first need a frictionless way to master the tools at their disposal. Ada isn't just a learning module; it’s a high-fidelity, enterprise-secured interface that makes complex retirement concepts accessible.

The Client: A Trusted Financial Services Institution Simplifying Retirement

The global Allianz group serves 122 million customers in more than 70 countries worldwide. Allianz Australia operations, with currently over 4 million customers, have been providing solid, sustainable insurance solutions to Australians for over 100 years. Allianz Retire+ is committed to supporting retirement planning by providing reliable solutions for guaranteed income with control and flexibility.

The Challenge: Scaling Education for a Highly Customisable Retirement Income Product

Allianz Retire+ offers AGILE (Allianz Guaranteed Income for Life), a retirement income solution that provides guaranteed monthly income and flexible access to funds, regardless of market movements.

While there is significant global demand for these solutions, the product is a new category in the Australian market, making adviser education a key concern. AGILE is a highly customisable offering, with many features and options for advisers to choose from, tailored to each client. For clients to receive the best possible advice, financial advisers need a deep understanding of how the product works, how different options interact, and how to model outcomes accurately.

That education largely relied on subject matter experts and business development managers within Allianz Retire+. To support compliant scalability, Allianz Retire+ sought an AI assistant solution that would empower financial advisers and paraplanners by providing frictionless self-service access to product knowledge.

Value Delivered: Accelerating Sales Through Adviser Confidence and Customer Trust

V2 AI designed and delivered Ada (Adviser Digital Assistant), a production-ready, compliant, and observable AI capability that could scale product education safely and reliably.

Traditional documents and supporting materials can be complex and time-consuming for advisers and can leave their clients with uncertainty. Ada addresses a critical gap in the market by offering a dynamic experience to make complex retirement income concepts more accessible for advisers to serve their clients.

It allows advisers to build trust and scale AGILE across the Australian market.

Increased Sales Volume and Velocity

Ada operates at the top of the sales funnel, reducing friction at the earliest stages of adviser engagement. It aims to deliver accurate responses to complex product questions in seconds. Advisers can present best-fit product suggestions to every customer with confidence. This is helping advisers progress opportunities faster and unlock incremental sales growth.

Boosted Sales Efficiency

Instead of waiting for meetings with specialists, advisers can explore AGILE independently, at the pace they need. This has reduced repetitive education overheads and streamlined the sales process, accelerating the advice-to-application cycle.

Ada has also standardised knowledge and guidance, aiming to ensure consistent, compliant advice across diverse and geographically distributed teams. It has increased product clarity while supporting new adviser onboarding.

Enhanced Adviser Experience

Built with compliance guardrails, deterministic tools, and full transparency, Ada strengthens trust with advisers and reinforces Allianz Retire+ as a dependable and innovative partner in retirement income. As the team continues to learn from usage insights and trend analysis, Allianz Retire+ can proactively identify education gaps and refine product communication strategies, improving long-term adviser engagement and retention.

Enhanced Customer Trust

Ada distils complex features and lowers the barriers to expertise. It empowers advisers to deliver personalised recommendations faster and build customer trust. This supports higher-quality advice outcomes for customers, boosting retention and brand reputation for Allianz Retire+.

The Solution: A Scalable, Governed, and Assured Agentic AI Capability built on Anthropic Claude

Under the hood, Ada is an AI agent built using AWS Agent Squad and Amazon Bedrock. It is powered by Anthropic’s Claude models selected for their reasoning performance and controllability in regulated environments.

A critical milestone was securing internal sign-off across compliance, legal, risk, product, and leadership teams. The collaboration between Allianz Retire+ and V2 AI ensured not only technical robustness, but organisational readiness.

Establishing a High‑Confidence Accuracy Benchmark

Allianz Retire+ approached the design of Ada by first defining a critical set of product questions where a high confidence level was required to support customer, adviser, and compliance use cases. These benchmarks shaped architectural choices and set clear expectations around acceptable performance.

To achieve this, V2 AI undertook multiple rounds of structured testing involving product experts, compliance, and sales teams. Outcomes were assessed, scored, and iteratively refined, creating a controlled feedback loop that progressively improved accuracy and reliability prior to production sign‑off.

Strong Integration with Existing Systems

Ada interacts with internal Allianz Retire+ tooling to enhance answer accuracy and trust. For instance, it can:

  • Calculate income rates from an internal tool with user-entered information.

  • Enrich responses with numerical information from internal calculators

  • Search and retrieve information from approved product documentation

Automated Validation for Effective Assurance

To accelerate refinement without over-consuming SME time, the team implemented an LLM-as-a-Judge framework with Claude. Instead of relying solely on human review, the system programmatically evaluated responses by comparing outputs against expected answer components.

This enabled automated regression testing at scale, ensuring:

  • Continuous improvement without draining business resources

  • Consistent evaluation standards

  • Faster iteration toward production-grade accuracy

Compliance by Design

Operating in a compliance-heavy financial environment required careful architectural decisions. Rather than treating governance as a final check, compliance was embedded throughout:

  • Prominent login disclaimers requiring acknowledgement

  • Clear transparency on AI-generated responses

  • Close collaboration with legal and compliance for wording approval

Because Ada provides information to regulated advisers, not direct consumer advice, the system was structured to operate within acceptable mitigation frameworks.

This compliance-first approach accelerated internal sign-off and enabled production-readiness.

Built-In Observability

To ensure confidence at scale, V2 AI implemented full observability with Langfuse, providing transparency into model reasoning paths, tool usage, information retrieval behaviour, and response-quality trends.

This gives Allianz Retire+ operational insight into how the agentic system behaves in production, turning AI from a black box into an understood, governed enterprise capability.

Observability will also support ongoing governance, monitor evolving adviser queries, and help to support continued accuracy post-launch.

Cost-Efficient Scaling

Since Ada was built entirely on AWS using serverless architecture, it scales automatically when demand increases and remains close to zero cost when idle. Load testing confirmed the system can handle 83 requests per second, significantly exceeding anticipated usage volumes.

A lightweight CI/CD pipeline and a purpose-built testing harness were implemented to support continuous refinement, response caching, and maintenance beyond launch.

Innovation and Assurance Aligned

Ada demonstrates that enterprise AI can thrive in a regulated financial services environment when compliance, legal, risk, product, and leadership come together. When organisational readiness meets clear AI strategy and technical depth, measurable value flows across the entire chain, from insurer to intermediary to customer.
